There's a lot of information hitting your eyeballs when you're playing a racing game like Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, or Project Cars 2. The on-screen HUD is useful, but it can be hard to properly absorb when you're focusing on driving hard, especially if you're using a racing wheel.

That's where you can improvise and build an external dashboard display. And no, it isn't some kind of expensive or highly technical exercise. In fact, you can do it with any Windows tablet or laptop. A tablet is probably easier to use, though, in this situation!

Once you've installed it on your machine, you just need to connect it to Forza Horizon 4.

How to connect RealDash to Forza Horizon 4

1. In RealDash, click on garage.

2. Click on the door handle of the car you see.

3. Now click on the car's dashboard.

4. Under connections, click add.

5. Scroll down the source list to the very bottom and select racing simulator.

6. Choose the game, in this case, Forza Horizon 4.

7. Take note of the IP address and the adapter port you're shown.

8. Boot up Forza Horizon 4.
9. Go into settings.

10. Select HUD and gameplay.

11. Scroll right to the bottom of the list.
12. Change data out to on.

13. Enter the IP address from RealDash under the data out IP address option.

14. Enter the adapter port under the data out IP port option.
15. Make sure you've clicked done in RealDash.

You'll now see Forza Horizon 4 listed under connections when you select the car's dashboard. Whenever you have RealDash open, it will try and connect to the port you enabled in the game to receive its telemetry. One limitation I've found is that with more than one game in your connections list, it will try to connect to the others while you're playing with an annoying on-screen message. But it's not a big deal to re-enter games and match up the ports.

There are limitations, mostly game dependent. For example, Forza Horizon 4 will output data for tire temperatures, but not brake temperatures, and also in this game, it'll tell you what lap you're on but not how many total laps there are.

The good thing is that you can customize your dash, so if there are gauges that don't work in your chosen game, you can just remove them. Likewise, if you just don't want some of the data you're being shown.

The setup process is very similar for Forza Motorsport 7, and RealDash also supports several other games, including Assetto Corsa, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and F1 2019.

This works well on any Windows 10 device, but the real beauty is when you have a small tablet — something like an old Dell Venue 8 Pro— and a way of mounting it by your wheel. Or if you have multiple monitors, maybe running RealDash on one of those while you race on another. There's also a version of the app for Android too, if you're interested but don't have a Windows tablet to spare.

On Windows 10, the clipboard is a handy little feature that has been around for a long time, and it's been designed to store data (such as text, image, video, files, etc.) temporarily for copy and paste operations.

When using the feature, only one piece of data can exist in the clipboard, once you copy (or cut) something else, the data is replaced with the new content. However, Windows 10 also includes some improvements to track the text and images you copy to the clipboard along with settings and interface to access the history.

Since the clipboard can store virtually any type of data, if you share the device with other people, you may want to make sure that the temporary data storage is clear as you step out to protect any private information that you might have copied to the clipboard.

The instructions outlined above will only clear the content inside the clipboard. If you use the new clipboard experience on Windows 10, you also need to clear the history, which is in a separate location.

The above instructions are to clear the data from the legacy clipboard. If you're trying to delete the history of the modern clipboard experience on Windows 10, you can complete this task in several ways.

Delete clipboard history with shortcut

To delete clipboard history with a shortcut, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for Notepad and click the top result to open the app.

3. Copy and paste the following commands:

   %windir%\System32\cmd.exe /c "echo off | clip"
   wmic service where "name like '%%cbdhsvc_%%'" call stopservice
   wmic service where "name like '%%cbdhsvc_%%'" call startservice
   

4. Click the File menu and select the Save As option.

5. In the File name field, specify a name with the .bat extension. For example, ClipboardClenner.bat.

We've had success in the past upgrading the XPS 15 with Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM, though other users who have used the same RAM in their XPS 15 have come across compatibility issues. It's unclear why this occurs. If you're in doubt regarding the RAM you'd like to use for an upgrade, it's never a bad idea to contact Dell to confirm exact compatibility.

The official XPS 15 9500 user guide says it supports up to two 32GB DDR4 modules at 2933MHz, so going by that, we can suggest something like Corsair Vengeance. A kit with two 16GB modules costs about $193, while two 8GB modules cost about $105.

If you'd rather go for RAM that's more budget-friendly, Crucial's Ballistix should also theoretically be compatible, as it has worked with XPS models in the past. Whatever the circumstance might be, Windows 10 includes several ways to find your computer specs, such as Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) firmware details, model number, processor, memory, drives, graphics, OS version and updates. The only caveat is that depending on the method you use, the properties available could be slightly different.

How to find computer hardware specs using Settings

You can use the Settings app to check basic hardware and software specs, such as processor, memory, and the current version of Windows 10.

To find device specs with the About settings page, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on System.
3. Click on About.

4. Check the Device specifications section to find the computer name, processor, total usable memory, system architecture, and included touch and pen support.

5. Check the Windows specifications section to find the edition of Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Enterprise, or Education), version number, the date when the feature update was installed, and the current build number (the number after the period indicates the quality update version).

Once you complete the steps, you'll have a clear understanding of your computer's basic technical specifications.

How to find computer specs using System Information

System Information is another tool that has been around for a long time, and it's one of the best options to get a complete overview of your PC specifications.

To view all the system specs of your device, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for System Information and click the top result to open the app.

3. Select the System Summary category from the left pane.

4. On the right side, check the computer specs, such as system model, system type, processor, UEFI (or legacy BIOS) details, including the last firmware update date and mode, and installed memory.

5. (Optional) Expand the Components branch and select the Display option to view the graphics card technical information.

After you complete the steps, you'll have a detailed view of your computer specs.

If you're looking for a specific property detail, the System Information tool offers a search option at the bottom of the page to quickly find the information you need.

Create tech specs report

Using System Information, you can also create a full report of your machine specifications, which you can save for later viewing or share with technical support when troubleshooting problems.

To create a report with your PC tech specs, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for System Information and click the top result to open the app.

3. Select the specifications you want to export.

   Quick tip: Selecting System Summary will export everything, but if you only need to export the graphics card details, you only need to select the Display item.

4. Click on the File menu.

5. Click the Export option.

6. Select the location to save the file.
7. Type a descriptive name for the report. For instance, "Windows 10 PC specs".
8. Click the Save button.
9. Open the folder containing the exported information.

10. Double-click the text file to view all the system information.

After you complete the steps, the report will be saved into a text file, which you can then open with any text editor application.

How to find computer specs using PowerShell

To use PowerShell to check the full specifications of your device hardware and Windows 10, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for PowerShell, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

3. Type the following command to determine your computer specs and press Enter:

   Get-ComputerInfo

4. (Optional) Type the following command to view only a specific hardware or software details and press Enter:

   Get-ComputerInfo -Property "PROPERTY-NAME"

   In this command, make sure to change PROPERTIES-NAME for the details you want to review.

   For example, the following command displays everything regarding the BIOS information:

   Get-ComputerInfo -Property "bios*"

   Quick note: In the command, the asterisk * is a wildcard to match every property regarding BIOS.

Once you complete the steps, the PowerShell command will output a full list of the OS and hardware information.

How to find computer specs using Command Prompt

Alternatively, you can also use System Information with Command Prompt, which allows you to view even more tech specs details about your computer using the command line tool.

To find the specs of your computer with Command Prompt, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

3. Type the following command to find your PC specs and press Enter:

   systeminfo

   Quick tip: You can also run the systeminfo /? command to see the available options using this tool with Command Prompt.

After you complete the steps, the command output will display all the information about your device's hardware and software, including Windows 10 and update information, system architecture, BIOS or UEFI firmware, RAM, and network details.

When you need to delete a file uploaded to Slack, the service includes multiple ways to complete the task.

If you use the Slack app on Windows 10 to work from home or the office, you also probably upload and share files in the chat or any of the available channels as part of the collaboration process with colleagues.

Slack makes it easy to delete files, in case that you shared the wrong document, or when the file is no longer needed. But if someone in the organization is controlling the settings, you may have limited options to delete files, and this is when knowing the different ways to remove files from the service can come in handy.

How to delete files shared on Slack

You can delete files uploaded to the service from the message or files section if you use Slack.

Delete files from a message

To delete files uploaded to Slack, use these steps:

1. Open Slack.
2. Click on the chat or channel with the file.

3. Hover over the image and click the More actions (three-dotted) button from the top-right corner.

   Quick tip: If you want to delete the image and message, click the "More actions" button on the message, not on the image.

4. Click the Delete file button.

5. Click the Yes, delete this file button.

Once you complete the steps, the file and message will be deleted from the Slack chat or channel.

Delete files from storage

If the option to delete files from a message is missing, then you can remove it from the services storage.

To delete files uploaded to Slack from the Files section, use these steps:

1. Open Slack.
2. Click on Files from the left pane.

3. Search for the file.

   Quick tip: If you don't remember the name, click the Filter option from top-right and use the settings to find the file.

4. Click the name of the file to view its information.

5. Click the More actions (three-dotted) button from top-right corner.

6. Click the Delete file option.

7. Click the Yes, delete this file button.

After you complete the steps, the file will be deleted from the Slack workspace.

If you want to delete a file posted by somebody else, then you'll need to contact the workspace administrator and ask them to delete the file for you.

If after the Windows 10 May 2020 Update installation your device is suddenly running out of space, use these steps to get some of the storage back.

When you're upgrading to a new version of Windows 10, such as the May 2020 Update, the setup backs up the previous installation automatically as a safeguard, in the event that the upgrade fails, and the system has to revert the changes to original state, or the new version isn't working as expected, and you need to roll back to an older release.

Although this approach can make sure that you always have a way to undo the changes, the previous installation files stored inside the "Windows.old" folder can take up a lot of space, even after the upgrade completes successfully.

If, after installing a new release of Windows 10, you're suddenly running of space, deleting these files can reclaim anywhere from 8GB to 12GB of storage. The amount of storage may not seem like much when we have drives with multiple terabytes, but on devices with limited space could be a significant gain.

In this Windows 10 guide, we'll walk you through the steps to remove the previous installation files consuming valuable space after upgrading to the May 2020 Update.

Important: After removing the previous installation files, the option to rollback will no longer be available in the Settings app. In the future, if you want to downgrade, you'll need to perform a clean installation using the version of Windows 10 that you want to use.

How to free up space after May 2020 Update using Storage sense

If you performed an in-place upgrade to the May 2020 Update, you could use Storage sense to remove the previous installation files.

To reclaim space after installing the May 2020 Update, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on System.
3. Click on Storage.

4. Under the "Storage" section, click the Configure Storage Sense or run it now option.

5. Under the "Free up space now" section, check the Delete previous version of Windows option.

6. Click the Clean now button.

Once you complete the steps, Windows 10 will remove the "Windows.old" folder that stores your previous installation reclaiming several gigabytes of storage for more important files.

How to free up space after May 2020 Update using Temporary files

Alternatively, you can also use the Temporary files settings to delete the previous Windows 10 installation files.

To delete the previous setup to free up space, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on System.
3. Click on Storage.

4. Under the "Local Disk (C:)" section, click the Temporary files option.

5. Check the Previous Windows installation(s) option.

   Quick tip: You can also select other temporary files (such as Delivery Optimization Files and Windows update log files) to recover even more space.

6. Click the Remove files button.

After you complete the steps, the previous installation files will be deleted along with any other temporary files that you may have selected to remove using these settings.

How to free up space after May 2020 Update using Disk Cleanup

In addition to using the Settings app, you can also use the legacy Disk Cleanup tool to delete the folder with the previous installation of Windows 10.

To free up space after the installation of version 2004 with Disk Cleanup, use these steps:

1. Open Start.
2. Search for Disk Cleanup, click the top result to open the experience.

3. Click the Clean up system files button.

4. Check the Previous Windows installation(s) option.

   Quick tip: You can also select other temporary files (such as Delivery Optimization Files and Windows update log files) to recover even more space.

5. Clear the Downloads option to avoid deleting downloaded files inside the "Downloads" folder.

6. Click the OK button.

Once you complete the steps, the folder with previous installation files will be deleted from your computer, freeing up storage on the main drive.

Best answer: No, the ASUSTOR AS6508T is not a good NAS for Plex, simply because its Intel processor is too weak for transcoding.

Not the best from Intel

Intel's Atom C3538 (clocked at 2.1Ghz) isn't a particularly powerful processor. It's 64-bit, has multiple cores, and doesn't have an issue with maintaining its rated clock speed, but there simply isn't enough performance here for 4K on Plex. Unfortunately, the ASUSTOR AS6508T has this processor, making the NAS for Plex a hard sell.

The issue with the ASUSTOR AS6508T is that it's an incredibly capable NAS aside from the CPU. I'm talking dual 2.5Gb and 10Gb LAN ports. That's madness for a consumer-grade NAS for the home and small office, but all these features are focused on file storage as opposed to media consumption.

One should aim for an Intel Celeron CPU at the very least. The latest Celeron processors in NAS models are capable of transcoding even 4K content without much of a stutter, though that's a single stream mind you. This isn't something you can hope for with NAS models that rock six bays or more. The majority of them come with this lesser CPUs.

Choosing the right NAS for Plex

Picking up a better-equipped NAS for Plex is a must if you plan on streaming plenty of 4K content. Pick a smaller NAS with up to 6 bays, and you should be able to score a decent Intel CPU. Something like the Synology DS1019+ would be a better fit. You only sacrifice three bays, still allowing you to install plenty of storage capacity.

This NAS, for instance, has an Intel Celeron J3455 CPU (clocked at between 1.5 and 2.3 GHz) and is a much better fit for Plex playback. It even supports 4K transcoding with positive results. This NAS also supports expansion, so don't worry if you feel the five bays a little restricting to begin with.

ASUSTOR AS6508T

$1,097 at Newegg

You're going to need the ASUSTOR AS6508T to upgrade the RAM. If you're looking for an 8-bay NAS with M.2 SSD slots and an Intel processor, this is a solid example. It's a killer mid-tier NAS for the home or small office.

Synology 1019+

$650 at Amazon

The Synology DS1019+ is better suited to Plex media simply because it has a far better Intel processor with better hardware transcoding support.

Minecraft Dungeons has a few secret levels you can find with a bit of exploration and guidance, and we've put together a list on how to find them.

Minecraft Dungeons is an amazing action RPG that is accessible to newcomers and has a deceptive amount of depth for those who seek it. The game has 9 levels on the surface, but that goes up to 14 if you work to uncover hidden paths throughout the game.

It can be hard to pinpoint the exact locations of each level unlock, due to the game's random map generation systems. And hey, it can be fun to discover it for yourself. If you want to save time, though, we've put together a quick guide on how to find all of the hidden areas in Minecraft Dungeons, and some general tips towards doing so.

Creepy Crypt

The Creepy Crypt is the largest single map in the game, and is a great source of emeralds and other loot, given that it can carry over 22 chests of various types. This is also the first secret dungeon you can find, and is typically accessible by veering off to the left early on in the Creeper Woods level. It can be hard to describe exactly where it is due to the game's random path generator, but it's typically fairly early on in the game, so just explore secondary paths away from the yellow pointer telling you where to go, it feels like it's almost always on the left side of the map.

If you've found the correct path, you'll eventually come upon a door hidden behind some moss with a secret switch. Inside, you'll find some ambushing mobs in another crypt, and the map that gives you the ability to unlock the area on the world map.

Soggy Cave

The Soggy Cave is a difficult area to find. In fact, we haven't been able to find it twice after originally unlocking it, although we've spoken to a few people who have been able to find it here and there.

Similarly to the Creepy Crypt, the Soggy Cave is unlocked via a map you can find in a hidden crypt-like area within the Soggy Swamp level. The entrance is typically somewhere off the main path, and previously we've found it hidden off to the left.

Inside, there's a small area with an ambush event, and then a pedestal containing the map for the Soggy Cave.

The Soggy Cave level itself is incredibly short, coming with a couple of small puzzles and ambush events, but it also has a guaranteed Diamond Chest for good measure. If you're gunning for a specific piece of loot from its loot table, this might be a good level to farm.

Arch Haven

Arch Haven is seaside village island full of Illagers and chests that require a bit of parkour to access. It's a fun little level, and is a good source of Uniques like the Frost Scythe if you're gunning for things like that.

Arch Haven's map can be found within Pumpkin Pastures, off the beaten path inside a small pirate ship. Inside, there's another ambush event, with the map protected behind a gate. After the event, the gate will open, granting access to the juicy location data.

Due to the random nature of the map generation in Pumpkin Pastures it can be hard to give an exact location, but just explore off to the sides and keep the map up to see which paths veer away from the main waypoint, and you're sure to eventually find it.

Underhalls

The Underhalls is a large, sprawling crypt-style level that is rammed with undead, Wraiths, and a truly eerie haunted prison area. This is a great area to unlock for dungeoneers, given its size and relative complexity on maximum difficulty.

Underhalls is realtively easy to unlock, typically found near the starting area of Highblock Halls, and seems less dependant on randomness than some of the other level unlocks.

In the first area, at the bottom of some stairs in the main hall, there are two shields hanging on a blank wall. Interacting with one of the shields will unlock a hidden door, complete with the map inside.

Secret level (spoilers)

The game also has a very special secret level, in tribute to old-school ARPG Diablo II. Read about that over here, but don't read if you'd rather discover it for yourself. We'll have a more detailed guide on how to access this super-secret area in the near future.

You can now reset your PC by downloading a fresh copy of Windows 10, and in this guide, we walk you through the steps to complete this task.

Although the Windows 10 May 2020 Update won't reinvent the way we use computers, it ships with a bunch of incremental changes and features, such as the new cloud download option available for the "Reset this PC" recovery experience.

If you're not familiar with it, "Reset this PC" is a feature of the recovery experience that allows you to rollback your device to the factory settings to resolve performance, startup, memory usage, and virtually any software related problems.

The process is done using a locally-available image, but there's a caveat. If this image gets damaged, the reset won't complete successfully, and you'll need to use an alternate method to reinstall Windows 10.

To reset your computer removing everything on your device using the cloud download option, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Update & Security.
3. Click on Recovery.

4. Under the "Reset this PC" section, click the Get started button.

5. Click the Remove everything option.

6. Click the Cloud download option.

7. Click the Change settings option.

8. Turn off the Clean data toggle switch to remove the files quickly. Or turn on the Clean data switch toggle to remove files and erase the hard drive (recommended when you're trying to get rid of the device).

9. Click the Confirm button.
10. Click the Next button.

11. Click the Reset button.

After you complete the steps, the Reset this PC feature will download a fresh image from the cloud, erase the hard drive, and install a copy of Windows 10.

If you're keeping the device, then once the reset using cloud download completes, you'll need to restore files from backup and reinstall all your applications.

While this option makes it possible to start fresh with a copy of Windows 10, it's not meant to upgrade to a new version. When you use the cloud download option, the recovery feature will download the same version and edition currently installed on your device. If a new version of Windows 10 is available, you'll need to use the Windows Update or other supported methods, such as the Media Creation Tool or Update Assistant.

And while it's easy to play, it can be tough to master on the higher difficulties, and you'll need the right gear and right builds to match your playstyle.

We're still going through the endgame ourselves, and uncovering more and more awesome gear combinations as we go. We thought we'd start sharing some of our favorite builds so far, to help give you ideas on what kind of gear you might want to hunt for later in the game.

Best Minecraft Dungeons melee builds

Melee builds are all about standing toe to toe with the most powerful mobs, shrugging off huge amounts of incoming damage while wielding a large claymore or hammer. You could also play something a little more nimble and agile, dealing rapid damage more rogue-style, wielding daggers, or fist weapons. Most melee builds will need some type of melee-range mitigation, whether through the defense-boosting Iron Hide Amulet, or the area-stun Shock Powder. All melee builds benefit from the Light Feather too since it grants you a gap-closer on a short cooldown that also stuns mobs wherever you land.

Berserker warrior

Warrior playstyles will vary heavily based on what weapons and armor you want to use. For less tanky, more damage-heavy warrior archetypes, you'll want to use mail that increases your damage. Typically, the Mercenary Armor and Highland Armor come with very similar stats, offering mitigation and damage boosting properties.

You'll want to take whichever matches your playstyle in terms of enchants. Any enchant that gives you additional protection in melee range, damage boosts, or life steal effects are good picks to have to survive the onslaught. If you find that you're too squishy, you could pick the Iron Hide Amulet instead of something more damage-oriented, like the Death Cap Mushroom. For ranged, I find anything with Gravity helps pull mobs into your death radius, but you could also take something high-damage like Exploding Crossbows for those times you absolutely need a ranged attack.

Combat rogue

Rogue builds revolve around attack speed, and typically use the Spider Armor Unique set. While squishy, players using this loadout will deal massive amounts of damage extremely quickly, able to defeat mobs within the stun window of a Shock Powder blast or Light Feather roll out.

You could either opt for a hit-and-run style tactic using the Ghost Cloak to escape when things get too rough, or more of a stand-your-ground approach, if you manage to find fast weapons that have the Radiance or Lifesteal enchants for rapid self-healing. For ranged weapon, you could go with whatever has worthwhile enchants to help you drain life or mitigate your enemies. Thematically, the rapid-fire Auto Crossbow makes a good pick for a speedy rogue.

Best Minecraft Dungeons archer builds

Archer builds revolve around ranged attacks primarily. You'll want to keep enemies at bay, using defensive Artifacts like the Ghost Cloak to avoid being attacked and to reposition. Artifacts like the Torment Quiver work well with Souls-oriented builds and armor sets, while the Fireworks Arrow and Flaming Quiver will be the bread and butter of non-Souls archery builds.

Frosty archer

This is the build I'm personally using currently, as a fan of some of the Souls-based abilities and archery playstyles in general. This build works well with any ranged soul-based weapon, including the Feral Soul Crossbow, and the Voidcaller. The Frost Bite armor gives a bonus to souls received from attacks, as well as a cute snowball companion that will hit a random target with a stunning snowball.

With this build, I use Soul Healer artifact and the Cowardice enchant, which adds a damage bonus for being at full health. Soul Healer is also useful in general for healing any incoming damage. This isn't the most tanky build, but it revolves primarily around the Torment Quiver artifact to push enemies away. I also use the Ghost Cloak to escape from bigger packs and Geomancer traps, allowing myself to quickly reposition for more swirly Torment Quiver shots.

For melee, I use the Frost Scythe purely for aesthetics, but the slow on it is helpful to keep mobs at bay. You could also use the Eternal Knife for extra souls, or something like the Jailor's Scythe to put chains on mobs, keeping them at bay. My Frost Scythe luckily has the Chains enchant already, making it extra useful in this regard.

Best Minecraft Dungeons caster builds

Caster builds ultimately revolve around either Evocation Robes or Soul Robes, based on your preferred playstyle. Evocation Robes give bonus reductions to Artifact cooldowns, which helps with trickster-style builds using the Love Medallion or Golem Kit. Soul Robes boost your Artifact damage, though, turning you into a super glass cannon with huge burst damage.

Soul weaver

My preferred caster playstyle as of writing is a Soul-heavy build using the Soul Dancer Robe Unique. This Soul Robe grants additional mitigation, providing a flat 30 percent chance to avoid all damage, which can be nice for a glass cannon damage dealer. Active mitigation isn't supremely necessary on this build, since you'll be shredding things into pieces using the Harvester explosion in close range, and the Corrupted Beacon at range. Still, some active mitigation enchants can help further, such as Weakening on your weapon, or a Snowball enchants on your armor to stun nearby melee attackers.

Soul-draining crossbows and bows will help you regain your Soul gauge, while weapons like the Eternal Knife help you get souls on-hit, rather than on-kill, which is crucial when fighting single large bosses or mobs like the Redstone Golem.

Minecraft meets Diablo

Minecraft Dungeons is an upcoming action RPG set in the blocky worlds of Minecraft! Team up with three friends and get your dungeon crawl on.

Microsoft continues to improve the Settings app, and in this guide, we dive into the changes available with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update.

The Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) is now available for compatible devices. Alongside the new features and changes, the first semi-annual release includes a bunch of tweaks and improvements for the Settings app.

In version 2004, the Settings experience is getting some incremental changes, such as reorganization and tweaks for several settings. For instance, you can now customize more mouse settings, including pointer speed and text cursor indicator. The "Reset this PC" feature now includes an option to download a fresh image from the cloud to reinstall Windows 10. The Status page has a new view of the active connection and data usage. There's an option to make it easier to backup files to OneDrive and much more.

In this Windows 10 guide, we'll show you the improvements and significant changes with the Settings app shipping with the May 2020 Update.

What's new in the Settings app

On Windows 10 version 2004, the Settings app isn't changing significantly. Still, you'll find some cosmetic tweaks, new options, some existing settings have been reorganized, and the homepage header introduces a new notification to complete the setup after an upgrade.

Also, the Cortana settings are no longer available since it is now a separate app that focuses only on productivity, and some of its support (music controls, smart home, and third-party skills) will soon be removed.

These are all the new improvements you'll find in the Settings app in more detail:

System

On Settings> System> Sounds, in the App volume and device preferences section, the settings are getting some minor tweaks to make sure the experience is more usable.

On Settings> System, the Notifications & actions settings page includes a new Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows option, which allows you to continue with the post-upgrade process of Windows 10.

On Settings> System> Focus assist, the Customize your priority list has been updated to include options to manage notifications for calls, texts, and reminders.

On Settings> System, the Storage settings page doesn't introduce additional options, but you can now access the backup settings with a new View backup options link under the "More Storage settings" section.

Devices

On Settings> Devices, the Mouse settings now includes a slider option to configure the cursor speed of the mouse.

Network & Internet

On Settings> Network & Internet, the Status page is getting some important design changes. Starting with Windows 10 version 2004, the Status page not only shows if you're connected to the internet, but it now includes a new view of the active connection with an option to access the interface properties.

If you have multiple network interfaces, the one currently connected to the internet will show up on the page.

You'll also notice that the "Data usage" page is no longer available from the left pane, and this is because Windows 10 is relocating the feature under the new connection view.

If you're concern about the data that you're using, you can always access the stats from the Status page, where you can also restrict data usage for a particular network to get a warning when you're getting close to your allowance limit. Also, the page displays the amount of data that apps have been using from a particular network.

Finally, the Status page no longer includes the option to access the "Network and Sharing Center" in Control Panel, and the "Show available networks" option is now a button with a description instead of a plain link.

Apps

On Settings> Apps> Apps & features, the Optional features settings page is getting a bunch of improvements starting with the May 2020 Update. For example, you can use the new box to search through the installed apps, and there's even a "Sort by" menu to sort the listing by name, install date, and install size. Also, the page now shows the features that you recently installed, uninstalled, or canceled within the optional features history page.

Also, beginning with this release, you can select and install multiple features at once.

The Notepad, WordPad, and Paint apps become optional features, which means that you can now remove them from this page. And Windows 1o now includes feature dependencies for the description of each feature available for installation.

Accounts

On Settings> Accounts, the Sign-in page has been updated on version 2004 with a new option called "Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft account," which is a new feature that removes the need to sign in using a traditional password.

When you enable the new feature, the ability to sign in using a password will be removed from the device, and you'll need to use one of the available Windows Hello authentication methods like PIN, face recognition, fingerprint, or security key.

Also, with the May 2020 Update, Windows 10 is splitting the "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart" setting into two options. As a result, you'll see a new Restart apps toggle switch to decide whether apps can restart automatically after signing in.

Time & Language

On Settings> Time & Language, the Language page is getting some visual tweaks to make it easier to understand the settings. Starting with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, you'll see a summary of your current language configuration, including the default display language for Windows 10 as well as for apps and websites, and the ongoing regional format, keyboard layout, and speech language.

If something doesn't look correct, you can click each icon to adjust the settings.

Finally, when adding a new language package, you can hover over a feature to view its description.

Ease of Access

On Settings> Ease of Access, the Cursor & pointer page has now been divided into two pages, including Mouse pointer and Text cursor.

The Mouse pointer includes the same settings as previously available in the "Cursor & pointer" page, but without the cursor settings.

On Settings> Ease of Access, the Text cursor is a new page in the app with Windows 10 version 2004, and it includes the setting to make the text cursor appear thicker and a new option to enable the new text cursor indicator.

If you enable the indicator, you can also use the slider to scale it up or down as needed. Also, you can change the color scheme using one of the suggested colors, or you can create a color using the "Pick a custom color" button.

On Settings> Ease of Access, the Magnifier page has been updated with a new option to keep the text cursor centered or within the edges of the screen.

Also, there's a new "Reading" section that includes an option to change the configuration of the Magnifier modifier key to "Control + Alt,""Caps Lock,""Insert," and "Caps Lock or Insert." Also, you'll no longer find the "Collapse Magnifier window to a floating transparent magnifying" option on this page.

Microsoft is even shipping some changes to the Magnifier interface. For instance, with the May 2020 Update, the experience now includes support for the system dark theme, remembers the window position after closing, and there are three ways to start reading, including "play,""select next," and "read from here."

Finally, the menu (gear) button now gives you direct access to control the speed and voice rather than jumping directly to the Magnifier settings.

On Settings> Ease of Access, the Narrator is receiving new changes, including a setting to change how capitalized text is read (options available include "Don't announce,""Increase pitch," and "Say cap").

Under the "Change what you hear when reading and interacting" section, there's a new experimental Have Narrator be more efficient in Outlook option. And in the "Change what you hear when typing" section, this version of Windows 10 removes the Change when you receive Caps lock warnings while typing setting.

At the bottom of the page, you'll notice that the "Sync my settings" section now is called Manage your data and services, and it includes an option to sync your Narrator configuration to the cloud.

Also, there is a new option to get image descriptions, page titles, and popular links. Once the feature is enabled, the system will send images and links to Microsoft to analyze them so you can see their information.

Search

On Settings> Search, the Permissions & History page, under the "History" section, the option to improve search suggestions, "My device history," has been renamed to Search history on this device. And at the bottom of the page, you'll find links to view and delete your search history on the web as well as a link to view your Bing search history to include or exclude web searches from search suggestions.

Finally, beginning with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, the "More details" page is no longer available.

Privacy

On Settings> Privacy, the Diagnostic & feedback page isn't getting new settings, but you'll no longer find the option to adjust the settings for "Recommended troubleshooting."

Update & Security

On Settings> Update & Security> Delivery optimization, the Advanced settings page introduces new options to limit bandwidth for background or foreground downloads using absolute values.

On Settings> Update & Security, the Backup page is getting updated with a new option to configure a file backup using OneDrive.

When using the new "Back up files" option, the OneDrive file backup settings will open, allowing you to select the local folders (Desktop, Documents, and Pictures) you want to upload and keep secure in the cloud service.

On Settings> Update & Security, the Troubleshooting settings page removes the troubleshooters to fix an internet connection, printer, Windows Update, and other problems on the main page. However, you can still find them under the new "Additional troubleshooter" page.

Also, the page now includes the "Recommended troubleshooting" settings previously available in the "Diagnostics & feedback" page.

On Settings> Update & Security, the Recovery page includes an updated version of the "Reset this PC" feature that includes a new Cloud Download option, which has been designed to download a clean image of Windows 10 from the Microsoft servers to perform a reset, instead of using the local image stored on the computer.

The "Cloud Download" option is not meant to upgrade your device to a new release of Windows 10. Instead, it's to reinstall the same version, edition, and build running on your device.

If you need to reset your computer using "Cloud Download," then all the apps will be removed, and you'll have to reinstall them later, and if you select the "Remove Everything" option, then it'll delete your apps as well as files.

The new option is to complement the recovery feature. If you don't have an internet connection or you prefer using the existing image, you can use the "Local reinstall" option.

On Settings> Update & Security, the For developers page with the May 2020 Update is not getting a lot of changes. However, you'll notice that the "Use developer features" option now becomes Developer Mode, and the setting has been simplified with a single toggle switch to choose whether to install apps from any source.

How to see data usage on Windows 10

Out of the box, Windows 10 monitors the network traffic of every adapter on the device, and you can view your current usage from the Status page.

To view your current data usage, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Confirm total data usage in the active network connection.

5. (Optional) Click the Data usage button.
6. Use the "Choose a network" drop-down menu and select the network you want to review.

7. See the data usage per application.

Once you complete the steps, you'll have an understanding of the overall data usage of the entire system and per application for the last 30 days.

How to reset data usage on Windows 10

To reset the data usage history, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Under the active connection, click the Data usage button.

5. Click the Reset usage stats button at the bottom of the page.

After you complete the steps, the usage stats will reset, and the count will start again.

How to set up data usage limit on Windows 10

On Windows 10, you can configure a data usage limit to get a warning when you're getting close to your plan limit. Once everything is set up, you can also view the remaining data, edit the limit information, or remove the limit if you no longer need it.

Setting up data usage limit

To set up a data usage limit on Windows 10, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Under the active connection, click the Data usage button.

5. Click the Enter limit button.

6. Choose the limit type. For example, Monthly, but you can also select "One Time" or "Unlimited."

7. If you selected the "Monthly" option, then you'll have these settings to configure:

   • Monthly reset date — Select when the data usage should reset on the device. (Usually, you want to specify the first day of your internet billing cycle.)
   • Data limit — Specifies the data plan allowance.
   • Unit — Specifies the data limit unit. Options available, including megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB).

   Quick tip: Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Windows 10 may calculate data usage differently. This means that it's a good idea to set the limit to a lower value than the specified on your plan to avoid surprises.

8. Click the Save button.

Once you complete the steps, the feature will start monitoring your data usage for the time range and amount you specified, and you'll receive a warning as you get closers to your allowance limit to prevent extra charges.

Also, because the system understands that you're using a limited data plan, it'll also set the current network connection as metered, which means that some apps may work differently to reduce data usage. For instance, Windows 10 will no longer download and install updates automatically, unless, it's a critical update, and OneDrive will pause uploads and downloads.

Viewing remaining data

To review the remaining data allowance, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Under the active connection, click the Data usage button.

5. Under the "Data limit" section, confirm the remaining data allowance.

After you complete the steps, you'll have an understanding of the data left before going over your current plan.

Editing data usage limit

To edit the data usage limit, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Under the active connection, click the Data usage button.

5. Under the "Data limit" section, click the Edit limit option.

6. Specify the new data usage settings.

7. Click the Save button.

Once you complete the steps, the feature will continue to monitor your data usage with the new parameters.

Removing data usage limit

To remove a data limit configuration, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.

4. Under the active connection, click the Data usage button.

5. Under the "Data limit" section, click the Remove limit button.

6. Click the Remove button.

After you complete the steps, the data limit will be removed, you'll no longer get warning notifications, and the metered connection will be disabled, resuming normal activities for all the apps and system.

The complete list of enemies in Minecraft Dungeons

The mob type you'll undoubtedly see the most of in Minecraft Dungeons are hostile mobs, or enemy units that'll do everything in their power to take you down. This is the largest and most diverse category as well, since Mojang and Microsoft pumped a bunch of powerful and unique enemies into the game to give the player variety during their playthrough.

There are several different groups of hostile mobs, each with their own abilities, varieties, and purposes. Many mobs will be familiar, like the creeper, while others are all new and exclusive to Minecraft Dungeons. Individually, lone enemies usually aren't that big of a threat. When they work together, however, you better watch out.

Here are all the enemy mobs in Minecraft Dungeons:

Illagers

Illagers are the most prevalent and sprawling group of mobs in Minecraft Dungeons, getting a spotlight they just don't have in vanilla Minecraft. These mobs are humanoid and similar in many ways to villagers, but are always hostile and have grey-tinted skin. Their abilities vary wildly, with some illagers even possessing "magical" abilities like summoning minions or granting increased attack strength to nearby hostile mobs.

Pillager

Your typical illager baddie equipped with a crossbow and a bad attitude. These mobs aren't very common early on, but become very numerous at later levels and difficulties. They're extremely dangerous with numbers, as their slower rate of fire also equates to much higher damage, and a flurry of crossbow bolts spells bad news for any but the sturdiest of players. It's important to stay moving and pick off pillagers whenever possible.

Gold armored pillager

If pillagers weren't annoying enough, gold armored pillagers are similar to other armored variants, in that they have increased defenses and can take more hits before going down. Not as common as regular pillagers, but they'll become increasingly common at higher difficulties, often accompanying larger groups of illagers with enchanters, vindicators, and other pillagers. They also deal more damage than normal pillagers.

Diamond armored pillager

In a rare instance, the pillager actually has two armored variants. The diamond armored variant is even more sturdy than the gold armored pillager, and therefore even more annoying to take on. Artifacts and quick, powerful attacks are vital against diamond armored pillagers, since you won't often find these pillagers separated from their typical mob of illager friends. If you're seeing diamond armored pillagers around, watch out for flying bolts.

Vindicator

Crazy axe-weilding maniacs that deal a hefty amount of damage up close. They still can't take a lot of hits, but in close combat they can chip away at your health with haste. Best to take care of them even quicker than they'll take care of you. The most common illager-type mob early on, and persistent through the game. These mobs are also very fast, so it's not easy to escape them in a pinch, or charge up a bow shot. Melee, artifacts, or companions are your best bet here.

Gold armored vindicator

A special variant of the vindicator that can take a lot more hits. These guys are annoying, especially since they can keep up with smaller vindicators in speed. It's probably best to pepper these guys with some arrows or weaken them with artifacts before attempting to take them head-on. They can dish out a good deal of damage as well with their double-bladed axe.

Diamond armored vindicator

Just like with pillagers, vindicators have two armored variants. They're almost identical in ferocity and appearance, with two distinct differences: the color of the buttons on their armor, and their health pool. Diamond armored vindicators take even more hits, making them one of the beefiest common mobs you'll find in the game. If you're surrounded by vindicators like these, you better hope you have powerful defenses or healing mechanisms to keep you alive.

Enchanter

Enchanters aren't dangerous on their own, but they can strengthen surrounding hostile mobs and give them increased power and attack speed. Enchanters make tough battles even tougher, so it's imperative that you take them out as quickly as you can. Leaving an enchanter alone on the battlefield will make dealing with stronger enemies like armored vindicators all the more difficult for you, as they grant perks like double damage, increased speed, special abilities like burning, electrified, or thorns, and make them much harder to kill.

Witch

Witches are another visitor from vanilla Minecraft, and, like enchanters, aren't terribly dangerous on their own. They'll throw potions at you that can deal poison damage and heal themselves up. They're a support-type mob that can make a lot of trouble for you if they're left to their own devices and have some friends to call upon. It's best to take witches down rather quickly. You'll only really find witches in the Soggy Swamp area.

Geomancer

Geomancers are a new kind of mob that attempts to entrap you in stone cages, as well as summoning exploding stone pillars that deal moderate amounts of damage. These enemies are tricky, as they focus on restricting your movement as well as dealing area-of-effect damage that's hard to dodge. Geomancers can rapidly ruin a battle for you, and like to keep their distance. They often attack when you can't even see them, making them even more annoying. Track them down quickly, before they pin you down for other mobs to swoop in for the kill.

Royal guard

Royal guards are beefy illager-type mobs with destructible shields and one-handed maces. They deal crushing blows with their heavy weapon, and are a huge nuisance up close. The royal guard are the official protectors of the Arch-Illager, so you'll find them in the last two levels in the game, and often in large numbers. Artifact skills and abilities are imperative to survive their onslaught, as it's very difficult to get in close for melee attacks with their absurd knockback ability.

Zombies

Zombies are the basic mob in Minecraft, and the same holds true in Minecraft Dungeons. They're normally not to be worried about too much, but different varieties and the tendency to spawn in large numbers can still make them dangerous. They're still not the biggest threat, but it would be wise to be aware of the different types regardless.

Basic zombie

There's no mob in Minecraft more boring than the zombie, but you have to start with something. You'll find some variation of these guys in almost every level, as they're the quintessential rank-and-file soldiers. They don't have a brain of their own, so they don't ask questions or disobey orders. They also don't particularly care how outmatched they are by the player.

Armored zombie

Armored zombies aren't just regular zombies wearing armor, they're taller and stronger as well. That means they can take more hits, and dish out more damage in return. They're still far from being the most dangerous mob in this list, but armored zombies can be more of a threat than a couple of boring zombies, since they can hold you off for a few precious seconds. You'll find armored zombies holding a small variety of weapons.

Husk

Husk are a desert variation of zombies, so you'll find these guys in dry, sandy levels. They're a lot bigger and sturdier than normal zombies, but also a lot slower. Aided by skeletons and spiders (which are also common in the desert levels), husks can pose a pretty big threat to the you if you're not careful. Fortunately, they don't apply any kind of "hunger" effect like in vanilla Minecraft.

Baby zombie

Baby zombies are the bane of everyone's existence in vanilla Minecraft, a source of pure terror. Super fast, with the same health as their bigger, slower brethren, and devastating attacks that make them a potent combination. In Minecraft Dungeons, they're still super fast, but seem to have decreased health and attack in comparison to larger enemies. These mobs can be difficult to lock on with slower weapons, though, so they can still be annoying.

Chicken jockey

Give a baby zombie a chicken to ride into battle, and suddenly you have the calvarly. Chicken jockies are more dangerous than ordinary baby zombies, and can appear in large numbers at certain stages. Fast, agile characters or area-of-effect attacks will have better luck against these chicken jockies, while slower tank-like players may struggle more against their rapid attacks. They don't have much health though, so if you can hit them you'll be golden.

Layered chicken jockey

A rare mob variant we've only see ourselves a handful of times, layered chicken jockies are up to six baby zombies stacked on top of a single chicken. Hitting them kills their overencumbered steed, but sends the baby zombies cascading down to the ground, where they'll proceed to try and surround you. More of a nuisance than anything, but absolutely hilarious to see wandering around the battlefield.

Skeletons

These clackety-clickety bags-of-bones are one of the most frustrating mobs to fight in Minecraft, if only because their predictable cadence of arrows holds just enough knockback to be annoying. In Dungeons, things are a little different. Skeletons can still take a back seat and launch ranged attacks at you, but this time around there's also melee-type skeleton mobs that pack a punch, and even a unique skeleton variant that summons minions.

Basic skeleton

Another one of the "pillar" mobs that makes up Minecraft's foundation, the skeleton launches ranged attacks using a bow and arrows, so it prefers to keep its distance. Skeletons don't have a lot of health, so a quick melee or ranged attack will make short work of them. Skeletons are also quite common, and can spawn in huge numbers alongside lots of spiders. This makes them quite dangerous if you don't also have ranged capabilities to match them, or can't move in quickly before you're trapped.

Armored skeleton

Remember armored zombies? Basically bigger zombies and are able to take a few more hits? Enter: armored skeletons. Same concept here. These are ordinary skeletons, but you'll need to beat them a few more times to knock them out. Armored skeletons are a bit more frustrating to have a ranged battle with, and in later levels can be joined by lots of regular skeletons as well. A barrage of well-timed arrows can bring any player to their knees in seconds.

Skeleton vanguard

The skeleton vanguard is a unique hostile mob that you can find in desert areas, but is most commonly summoned by the Nameless One boss. These skeletons are actually melee attackers, armed with a shield, helmet, and glaive that they'll use to stab and slash at you. Their shields protect them from your first attack, and their glaives have a lot of reach, making it hard to get at them without being stabbed yourself. They're not as sturdy as other mobs, so they rely on their long weapons to keep players at bay.

Necromancer

The necromancer is the most intimidating of all the skeleton mobs, for a multitude of reasons. Necromancers have huge health bars, tower over any other normal mob, and can raise veritable armies of undead forces to protect itself. Necromancers will summon zombies and skeletons whenever you get near them, and can quickly fill the battlefield with a horde of angry hostile mobs. Necromancers need to be dealt with as quickly as possible, and area-of-effect attacks and explosions are particularly effective against them. Rapid rogue-type players with some kind of healing support can also be very effective against necromancers.

Creepers

I'm sure you're very happy to see that creepers made the cut in Minecraft Dungeons. As before, these guys attempt to sneak up on you and unleash their trademark explosive attack. They can still dish out a bunch of damage, but as our guide shows, they're not as dangerous on their own in Dungeons as they are in Minecraft. Creepers rely more on numbers and support here, where they can wipe out entire parties in a matter of moments.

Basic creeper

In the main game, you're only going to find one variant of creepers, and it's the one we're all familiar with. They'll run up to you, flash a few times, and explode with a ton of damage. All by their lonesome, creepers aren't much of a threat, and are easy to deal with. However, in later levels (and at higher difficulties), creepers will spawn in larger numbers, often with other mobs like spiders that can pin you down for an easy kill. Creepers still don't have a lot of health, though, so a flurry of melee attacks or a well placed arrow should do the trick. Be aware of your surroundings, though, since creepers love to sneak in with hordes of other mobs, using them as a pseudo-shield.

Spiders

Ah, spiders. These crawly bois aren't the most dangerous of mobs, but for a select few of you out there, they could all go die in a massive fire and you'd be much happier. Spiders made the cut for Dungeons, so you'll still have to look out for your eight-legged pals, including poisonous varieties similar to vanilla Minecraft.

Basic spider

Spiders are everyone's favorite eight-legged, hissy, jumpy mob. Right? Well, regardless on your stance on spiders, they're here in Minecraft Dungeons, because what dungeon crawler is complete without some arachnids. Spiders are very different in Dungeons, however, in that they're support mobs primarily. They launch sticky webs at you that pin you in place, making you the perfect target for creepers, skeletons, and wraiths, which are common around spiders. Because of this, spiders are one of the most frustrating mobs for certain players (notably ones that rely on movement rather than defense).

Cave spider

Cave spiders are a different story, as just like in vanilla Minecraft they're smaller, nippier, and most importantly, venomous. Handle these guys with extra caution, since they can make trouble for any player. They are more common at higher difficulties, and may join their larger spider brethren as a more aggressive variety. Keep an eye out on your health around them, since poison chips away at it over time.

Slimes

Basic slime

Regular slimes are best friends with the witch mob, and are common in the same areas as they are. As far as how they operate, it's more or less identical to Minecraft Dungeons. They hop at you. They make squish noises. You attack them, they split into smaller versions. You attack the smaller versions, and they split into even smaller slimes. They aren't the most exciting mob, but even the smallest versions can stack damage on you if you don't take care of them.

Corrupted slime

This mob is different from any of the other mobs we've seen so far, because they can only be found in one section of one area. Like witches and regular slimes, you'll find this variant in the Soggy Swamp area, but corrupted slimes are spewed by the Corrupted Cauldron main boss, as a support mob to cause trouble. They fire purple orbs that cause a lot of damage, and can build up rather quickly around the boss that summoned them. It's usually best to avoid them rather than waste time trying to attack them.

Other enemies

Any mob that doesn't necessitate a separate category is here in the "other" section, but that doesn't mean you should rule any of these mobs out. Some of these mobs you'll recognize, but others are completely new to Minecraft Dungeons, with unique abilities and purposes to the game.

Wraith

The wraith is an all-new mob for Minecraft Dungeons, and they're pretty intimidating. They also, in my humble opinion, look awesome. Dark blue with electric blue accents, wraiths flit around the map and summon waves of soul fire that swamp entire areas of the battlefield at once. This fire causes persistent damage for as long as you stand in it, so it's best to avoid it. Wraiths are fantastic at controller player movements, and like to hang out with spiders, as well. A deadly combo, especially considered wraiths have decent defenses and can teleport away when they're in danger.

Redstone cube

Redstone cubes are like corrupted slime, in that they're only found in one place: surrounding the Redstone Monstrosity boss. These little cubes roll around and attempt to run players over. They're more of a nuisance, as they're only there to help their master close the distance and decimate everything in its path. They're kind of cute, in a weird "how is that alive" sort of way.

The complete list of passive mobs in Minecraft Dungeons

The next category of mobs in Minecraft Dungeons is the easiest to face, since these mobs aren't out for blood. Instead, passive mobs are entities like villagers, which you rescue during your journeys and can help you out by upgrading your camp with new vending shops and other perks, or wolves, which can be faithful companions that aid you in battle.

Sometimes, passive mobs are necessary to move forward, like when there's a key golem lurking around a locked door you need to get through, or when you need a bit of extra health to get through the next battle and some cows and sheep are nearby. They may not be exciting, but passive mobs are just as important as any other mob.

Here are all the passive mobs in Minecraft Dungeons:

Villagers

Villagers are the closest you get to NPC's in Minecraft, and they're the motivation behind your actions through the game. The Arch-Illager seeks to exact revenge against the villagers for neglecting him, and it's up to you to stop him and save the villagers in the process. There are a few different types of villagers, with different purposes.

Basic villager

Don't expect a lot from normal villagers in Minecraft Dungeons. They're basically only here to be captured by the Arch-Illager, then (hopefully) rescued by you, the main character. Still do your best to save them whenever you can though, since it's probably the only way to progress to the next part of the level. You'll find villagers in various states of distress, most notably either in pens or being forced to work the mines.

Blacksmith

Pretty early on in the game you should get a blacksmith hanging out at your camp, which allows you to buy new gear using emeralds. You're not always guaranteed to get better equipment, or even stuff you don't already have, but this still a useful way to potentially get an upgrade without much work. Be nice to him, will you? He's been through a lot.

Wandering trader

The wandering trader is a bit different from blacksmiths. They're still a vendor, but they allow you to buy artifacts instead of normal equipment, which is a sure-fire way to mix up your character's abilities and increase your power level. You might spend a bit more for the privilage, but it's more than worth it if you're struggling to progress any further.

Livestock

Need a little bit of extra health or a few more XP points? Then just find the nearest herd of expendable livestock and take them out. Unfortunately for these mobs, they don't serve much purpose beyond that. Just like in vanilla Minecraft, they exist in-game solely to be slaughtered by the player. Oh well.

Cow

We didn't notice any cows dropping beef in Minecraft Dungeons like they do in the vanilla game, but for some reason you can definitely get apples, bread, and...pork? Yeah, I don't know either. You also get a little bit of experience for killing cows, although it's not much. You may come across some enchanted cows in your travels too! They're still harmless, but will possess strange abilities like...setting the ground on fire?

Sheep

The food situation is the same with sheeps as cows, and there's no sign of any wool either (whatever you'd do with that in Dungeons). Again, like other livestock you still get a small bit of XP for killing them, so if desire to leave absolutely nothing behind, don't be... sheep-ish. I'm sorry, moving on.

Pig

Despite pork being the only meat you can find in Minecraft Dungeons, you actually won't find pigs wandering around. The only places pigs show up is environmental set pieces, like the pen in front of your camp's house. I don't understand the reasoning behind it either, but I figure the pigs probably like it better this way.

Chicken

These feathery bois are still present in Minecraft Dungeons, albeit barely, which is good because they are probably plotting to ambush and kidnap you. Chickens only exist in the game in two ways: the mount for a very angry baby zombie, or as your cosmetic pet if you bought the Hero Edition of the game. It's sad, too, I was looking forward to hunting them all down.

Companions

Wolf

Need a boost in battle? Or just want a best friend? Well, wolves can do both for you, for a price. If you find the Tasty Bone artifact and use it, you can summon a faithful poochie companion to aid you. They'll attack enemies, absorb damage aimed at you, and add some joy to your previously lonely adventure (unless you were playing with friends, which you totally should be). Try not to let them die, or you'll make the internet sad.

Iron golem

Iron golems are the best body guard anybody could ask for in Minecraft, due to their powerful attacks and huge pool of health. It's no different in Minecraft Dungeons, with iron golems being another companion option for players to summon. You're sure to get a lot of use out of iron golems, especially in a pinch. Iron golems are great for distracting large groups of enemies and disrupting armies with their wide sweep attacks and tank-like fortitude. They're summoned with another artifact, known as the Golem Kit. It'll be a while before you see one, but once you do you'll have a very helpful friend by your side.

Llama

The llama completes the trifecta of helpful companions players can summon to come to their defense. The llama is a bit different than the first two, as it's actually a ranged attacker. That's right, these llamas have super-powered spit, and can go on the offensive while staying a comfortable distance away, safe and sound. You summon these guys with the Wonderful Wheat artifact.

Bat

The bat is a little different from other companions, since it's not summoned using an artifact. Instead, you get a bat companion that flies around biting enemies if you don the Spelunker Armor, one of the many armor types in the game. They're tiny, weak, and don't do a lot of damage. But it adds one to your growing army of strange pets, so that makes it completely worth it.

Piggy bank

It may go against everything you thought was real throughout this rather long guide, but the piggy bank and key golems are all important enough that they deserve their own little sections, even if they'll throw things off a little. Piggy banks (or pigs with chests) are akin to treasure goblins from Diablo, in that they're a walking treasure trove just waiting to be taken.

Any time you see a piggy bank, it's in your best interest to mercy kill it as quickly as possible and take its treasure for yourself, since piggy banks often carry a ton of valuable loot like emeralds and supplies. They'll try to run, but if you're smart, you'll be a little bit faster.

Key golem

These little guys technically belong to the "golem" category, but they're a lot smaller than any of their cousins, and there's no chance of an attack from this front. Key golems are slippery mobs that will typically do anything they can to not be useful to you, even though their presence means they're blocking the way forward.

That's right, key golems are used to unlock doors to other areas of the map, and you'll need to track them down, surprise attack them, and carry them around on your back. If you're hit by a hostile mob, the key golem will leap off and begin running back to its spot. If a hostile mob attacks a key golem, they can carry it too, meaning you have to kill them to get it back. Playing "keep-away" with a sentient key. Hmm.

The complete list of bosses in Minecraft Dungeons (spoilers)

Bosses are super-powered versions of hostile mobs, and take things to the next level. You'll have to overcome these intimidating obstacles before you'll be allowed to continue, and defeating main bosses is integral to eventually coming face-to-face with the game's ultimate antagonist: the Arch-Illager.

Boss mobs are split into two categories: mini-bosses that you may see several of during the game, that break up levels and provide extra bits of challenge; and main bosses, which are unique and powerful units with devastating tactics and attacks. Be wary when facing them.

Here are all the bosses in Minecraft Dungeons:

Mini-bosses

Mini-bosses aren't quite unique enough to deserve their own names and identities. Instead, Minecraft Dungeons has chosen a handful of base mobs to instead turn into more powerful obstacles for players to overcome. You'll see quite a lot of mini-bosses during your playthroughs.

Evoker

The first boss of many you'll come across in the game, evokers are powerful wizard-like mobs that can summon pincer attacks from the ground and aggressive minions. They're hardly the most challenging boss in the game, being the first one you'll meet, but can still pose a challenge to the uninitiated. Good thing we have a guide going over all their attacks and the best strategies to combat them.

Enderman

The enderman is a staple of the Minecraft universe, and maintains his creepy persona in Minecraft Dungeons. Whenever one is near, the music changes and the screen begins to distort as he teleports around, aggressively attacking you from every angle. Melee attacks are best against the enderman, as are attacks that restrict movement. Endermen are more common in levels that take you underground.

Redstone golem

Redstone golems are brand new to the Minecraft universe, and expand the all-too-small golem-category of mobs. These ones aren't friendly, though, and will attack you with powerful melee strikes. Their appearance is comprised of a lot of stone, redstone, and cracks. Redstone golems have strong knockback abilities, and can prime mines on the ground that explode when a player gets close to them. Redstone golems are very common in the later levels.

Skeleton horsemen

This mini-boss is assuredly the rarest of all the mini-bosses, and is possibly the...easiest. Skeleton horsemen are very dramatic, for sure. They appear out of thin air and surround you, four strong, running circles and launch ranged attacks with their bows, while the music ramps up. However, individually they're not that strong, so dividing and conquering works wonders.

Main bosses

Main bosses are the real deal, with totally unique attacks, names, and necessary strategies to beat them. Main bosses push the story forward, and they plan to be the most difficult battles in the entirety of the game. Approach with caution, and be sure to analyze every boss as best as you can. Also, be aware of potential spoilers if you read ahead!

Corrupted Cauldron

The boss of Soggy Swamp, and the first main baddie you'll face in Minecraft Dungeons. The Corrupted Cauldron is a stationary boss that never moves, and attacks primarily through corrupted slime, or little minions it spews that fire dangerous fireballs at the player. It can also summon a wall of purple fire to surround it, temporarily protecting it from melee attacks. Because of the danger of the corrupted slime, ranged and agile melee players will be most at home here.

This main boss is visually very cool, but unfortunately one of the most effective tactics against it is simply peppering it with arrows while off-screen, just out of range of its corrupted slime's powerful attacks. Faster players with ways to heal themselves can get in close at key moments and deal lots of damage, but only if they're aware of where the corrupted slime are.

The Nameless One

This boss is the ruler of the Desert Temple area in Minecraft Dungeons, and has the ability to raise armies of undead to defend it from your attacks. It'll summon wave after wave of skeleton vanguards, acting as offense and defense at the same time. While the skeleton vanguard close the distance, the Nameless One will fire ghostly fireball one after the other, which each one dealing considerable amounts of damage.

The Nameless One only has one real weakness: when it's preparing one of its two main abilities, it takes a few seconds to charge up, giving players an opportunity to deal some damage. Be careful not to stick around too long, however, as the Nameless One can clone itself and surround the player, firing up to nine fireballs at one. This attack is hard to dodge after the Nameless One has already begun to move.

Redstone Monstrosity

The final main boss you'll face before the dramatic finale, the Redstone Monstrosity is the boss you're most likely to see in marketing materials for the game, since it has an intimidating, striking appearance with its three glowing eyes and massive horns. The Redstone Monstrosity is essentially the ultimate redstone golem, with a few more tricks up its sleeves.

It can summon little redstone cubes that are mostly their to slow you down, as the Redstone Monstrosity isn't capable of moving all that quickly. It can also fire off a sporadic barrage of fireballs with limited range, but they can be hard to dodge. Finally, the Redstone Monstrosity has the most impressive melee attack of all the mobs in the game, which means anyone but a tank will want to avoid being hit at all costs.

Arch-Illager

The Arch-Illager is the main antagonist of Minecraft Dungeons, and pops up periodically to summon waves of illagers to ambush the player at key intervals in levels. In a surprise twist ending, however, the Arch-Illager isn't really the final boss in the game. While you will fight him and his huge armies, you'll find he's not able to withstand your attacks for long.

As it turns out, all that power comes at a severe costs. The Orb of Dominance doesn't give for free, and it means the Arch-Illager has something dark and disturbing living inside of him. Something you'll have to defeat to finish the game's campaign, and move on to the game's deep endgame: the Heart of Ender.

Heart of Ender

The Arch-Illager becomes enveloped in darkness, and you come face to face with the Heart of Ender. The fight with Minecraft Dungeons' final boss is visually insane, with beautiful effects and animations highlighting a chaotic and gripping, albeit short, final fight.

The Heart of Ender crawls around the battlefield, leaving behind a damaging trail of black fire, firing off a four-pronged rotating laser attack that causes unbelievable damage, as well as instantaneously cloning itself and create a grid of interlocking lasers around the battlefield. A few missteps can mean a quick death for players, but well-timed attacks can rapidly deplete the monster's health bar.

The complete list of DLC mobs in Minecraft Dungeons (so far)

Minecraft Dungeons already has an impressive pool of mobs to call upon, but Mojang Studios is far from done. A lot of the mobs we previously had above didn't have a lot of information because they're just not in the game yet. Two expansions are planned for release on Minecraft Dungeons: Hero Edition, and we have information on what those DLC packs might be. They're named Creeping Winter and Jungle Awakens, and they both will add a bunch of material to Minecraft Dungeons.

Here are all of the mobs we know of (so far) in Minecraft Dungeons' DLC:

Creeping Winter

The Creeping Winter DLC might be the first content pack released for Minecraft Dungeons, and it looks to add at least one new frozen area, some cold variants of existing mobs, and possibly even a boss fight in the False King. We don't have a ton of details, so for now we'll just keep a list of mobs that we know of or suspect to be in the DLC pack.

• Frozen zombie.
• Icy creeper.
• The False King.

Jungle Awakens

Jungle Awakens gets about as far from Creeping Winter as you can get, trading frozen vistas and slippery slopes for damp humidity and lush vegetation. Just like with the Creeping Winter DLC, Jungle Awakens should add at least one level for players to join, unique mob variants, and possibly a companion in the ocelot. There's also at least one new mob we know of, but we don't have a name yet. We'll keep this list updated as we go.

• Jungle zombie.
• Mossy skeleton.
• Ocelot.
• Plant hostile mob.

Knowledge is power

The near-endless list of mobs in Minecraft Dungeons must be giving vanilla Minecraft mob-envy, since there's a ton of new and exciting mobs we've never seen before. There's even potential for more mobs to be added to Dungeons in the future, with DLC and different areas. The possibilities are endless, and Dungeons is the perfect outlet for Mojang to test the outer limits of Minecraft's diversity with mobs. Minecraft Dungeons is the next saga in Minecraft's story, and it looks like Mojang and Microsoft are hitting another one out of the park. Minecraft Dungeons combines the familiar world we all grew up on with an injection of Diablo, a whole lot of fun. Available on every platform you're on, for a ridiculously tempting price, what's not to love?

The May 2020 Update has new settings to make backing up files to OneDrive a lot easier – here's how.

Starting with the May 2020 Update, Windows 10 is tweaking the Backup settings page with a new option to leverage OneDrive to back up your important files stored in the default account folders (Desktop, Documents, and Pictures) to ensure they're protected in the cloud against malware, ransomware, and viruses. Also, if you use multiple devices, then OneDrive will keep these files in sync.

The ability to backup vital folders to OneDrive has been available for some time, but the Windows 10 May 2020 Update will make the feature easier to discover and configure, now that users without a first backup solution will begin to receive reminders to protect their data.

How to back up files to OneDrive on Windows 10

To start backing up files to OneDrive, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Update & Security.
3. Click on Backup.

4. Under the "Back up files to OneDrive" section, click the Back up files option.

5. (Optional) Click to clear the folder that you don't want to backup in the cloud.

6. Click the Start backup button.

Once you complete the steps, OneDrive will begin backing up the files on the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures user folders in the cloud while keeping a copy on your device and syncing them across your devices.

If you're using the free version of OneDrive, you can only store up to 5GB worth of files. However, you can upgrade to the 1TB option getting an Office 365 subscription.

How to manage OneDrive file backup on Windows 10

To manage the OneDrive backup settings, use these steps:

1. Click the OneDrive icon in the notification area.
2. Click the More menu.

3. Select the Settings option.

4. Click the Backup tab.

5. Click the Manage backup button.

6. Select the folders you want to backup in the cloud.

7. Click the Start backup button.

After you complete the steps, OneDrive will backup your files depending on your configuration.

On Windows 10, after you upgrade to a new version (such as the May 2020 Update), restart your device, or you simply sign out and back into the desktop, you may now see a new "Get even more out of Windows" notification surfacing additional features that you can configure on your device.

Usually, these can be existing or new features or privacy settings available with the latest version of Windows 10. However, if you know that your installation is set up just the way you want it, or you're not interested in configuring new features or services, such as OneDrive, Timeline, Windows Hello, and others, you can disable this prompt using the Settings app.

How to disable prompt to finish setting up Windows 10

To stop the prompt to complete setting up on Windows 10, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on System.
3. Click on Notifications & actions.

4. Under the "Notifications" section, clear the Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows option.

Once you complete the steps, Windows 10 will no longer nag you to set up Windows Hello, OneDrive, Timeline, Microsoft 365, and other features you may not want to use on your device.

On the page, you can also clear the Show me the Windows welcome experience after the update, and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested option to stop Windows 10 from opening Microsoft Edge to display information about the new version that you recently installed.

Cortana has been updated as a productivity tool with the May 2020 Update, and this is what you need to know.

Microsoft is finally shipping the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) for compatible devices with a slew of improvements and several small new features, as well as a new version of Cortana, which is significantly different.

Starting with version 2004, Cortana no longer has a deep integration on Windows 10. Instead, it becomes a regular system application that receives updates through the Microsoft Store. This means that the company can now release new features and improvements without having to wait until the next feature update.

As part of the design changes, there's a new experience in which you can move around the desktop, and it offers a chat-based interface designed primarily to interact with Cortana using the keyboard, but you can always use voice.

Also, since Cortana didn't become as popular as Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, Microsoft has decided to shift focus to make the assistant a tool exclusively for productivity that will work best with a Microsoft 365 subscription. As a result, many non-productivity features have been removed, including skills and the Notebook.

This means that Cortana will now only be useful at helping you manage meetings, tasks, surfacing Office documents, and other work-related tasks.

Although the new interface looks familiar to the old experience, the new design is clean and simple. When you first open the Cortana app, you'll be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft or work account. Once signed in, you'll access the new interface that's no longer attached to the taskbar, and because it's an app, it behaves like one, and you can drag it around the desktop, resize, or full screen like any other modern app.

The app has also been designed to make typing the primary method of interaction. Something that makes a lot of sense, since most people use devices with a keyboard and mouse, and many do not prefer talking to a computer. However, you can still use your voice to interact with Cortana using the mic button or the hands-free option.

Above the text box and voice control, Cortana also provides query suggestions to help you get familiar with interacting with the assistant. Then there's the main chat canvas that shows your text interaction in a threaded conversation, similar to the text interface on your phone, which you can also scroll to revisit certain information at a later time.

You can also right-click every one of your text or response from Cortana to access the context menu with options to ask again, copy text, delete a specific text, or clear the thread history.

Cortana now updates automatically through the Microsoft Store, but sometimes, you'll see a New version available notification in the experience, which you can click to update the app manually.

The new experience also supports the light and dark modes, but you can't change the mode independently within the app, the color mode will change automatically when you switch modes on Windows 10.

Cortana functionalities

Since Cortana now has an emphasis on productivity, moving forward, the assistant will focus only on managing your work life.

If you're in the United States, the digital assistant will continue to assist you in managing tasks and schedules. You can ask for Office files or people using typing or voice. You can also check calendar events and create and search emails.

You'll also be able to create reminders and add tasks to your lists inside Microsoft To Do.

Similar to the previous version, Cortana is connected to Bing, which means that you'll continue to have the ability to ask for the weather, jokes, and other information. And it'll help you set alarms timers, change settings, and open apps.

The app will be available outside the United States, but initially, the experience will be limited to answer questions using Bing and interactions with the assistant using chat. However, Microsoft says that it has plans to bring more functionalities in future releases.

Alongside the new visuals and improvements, Cortana is losing noticeable features. For example, starting with this new version, the left rail has been removed, and the Notebook is no longer available either. In addition, because the new assistant is now focused on productivity, Microsoft has also removed some of its core functionalities, such as skills.

Finally, for security reasons, Microsoft is ending support for Cortana in older versions of Windows 10 that have reached the end of support, so you'll only be able to access the assistant on the most recent releases.

Cortana app settings

The Settings app no longer includes a section exclusively to control the Cortana experience on Windows 10, but you can still adjust settings within the app.

The settings are available, clicking the main (three-dotted) menu button from the top-left and selecting the Settings option.

This device

In the Talking to Cortana page, you'll find the "Activating Cortana" section, which you can use to turn on the Wakeword toggle switch to allow the assistant to respond when you say "Cortana." (This option may or may not be available.)

Also, under the "Keyboard shortcut preference" section, you can choose whether you prefer to Type or Speak or type when activating Cortana.

In the Permissions page, you can control device permissions, but the options available are links to customize related features using Settings. For example, clicking the Microphone option opens the Settings app to allow or deny Cortana access to the microphone.

The Speech option opens the settings page to allow or deny sending speech information to the cloud to improve speech recognition when using the assistant. And the Voice activation option will enable you to control Cortana access to voice activation on Windows 10.

Account

The Privacy page includes the Revoke permission and sign out option to disable Cortana (in a sense) by removing Cortana access to your calendar, contacts, emails, and other information as well as to sign out of the experience.

Similar to the previous version of the digital assistant, there's a "Clear your data" section with an option to open the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard on your Microsoft account online to review and delete Cortana data.

You'll also see a Clear history feature that you can use to delete all the information about Cortana and you on the device.

Hardware

Finally, the "Hardware" section includes a page to add, remove, and control devices that support the digital assistant, like the Surface Headphones, Xbox One, and Amazon Alexa devices.

When you open the page, you'll see any device already connected to Cortana. You can click the available options to manage the device.

If you recently purchased a new accessory, you can click the Add a device button to open the Cortana Device Setup app to complete setting up the device.

Cortana repair options

If you're having problems with Cortana, you don't get an option to remove and install the app again, but since it's now a regular app, you can now access the tools to reset or repair the app using Settings on Windows 10.

You can access the new options from Settings> Apps> Apps & features, selecting the Cortana app, and clicking the Advanced options link.

Once inside the page, under the "Reset" section, click the Repair button, which runs an option designed to fix the app without affecting the data in the app.

However, if Cortana doesn't start or is not working correctly, you can use the Reset button to reset the app and delete the data from the app store on your device.

The page also includes an "App permissions" section to grant or deny the app access to the camera, microphone, or the ability to let the app run in the background without the need to change those same settings from the "Privacy" section.

If you don't want the digital assistant to run on startup, under the "Runs at log-in" section, you now have a toggle switch to decide whether Cortana should launch automatically as you sign in to Windows 10.

Alongside these changes, Microsoft is also introducing some other additional features, such as Play My Emails and the ability to receive an Outlook "Cortana Briefing" email for Microsoft 365 Enterprise customers.
