How you can obtain one of Elden Ring's best weapons for PvE and PvP.
There are tons of awesome weapons in Elden Ring, and surprisingly, many of them can be obtained quickly right after you start a new game. One such weapon is the Bloodhound's Fang, a curved greatsword that deals excellent damage, builds up the Bleed status effect on hit, and has the ability to "roll catch" PvP opponents that spam dodges carelessly. However, since the location of the weapon itself is relatively out of the way, many players haven't naturally come across the Bloodhound's Fang during their playthrough.
If you're wondering where you can get the weapon yourself, this guide has all of the information you need. In it, we're going to go over where to find the Bloodhound's Fang, what you need to do to acquire it, and what its stat requirements, scaling, and best usage strategies are.
Where to find the Bloodhound's Fang in Elden Ring
To find the Bloodhound's Fang in Elden Ring, you'll first need to head to the southern tip of Limgrave, just west of the bridge to the Weeping Peninsula region. There, you'll find the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, which looks like a large metal disc surrounded by Abnormal Stone Cluster enemies. The evergaol will have a glowing blue plate in the center that you need to interact with.
Once you activate this plate, you'll begin a boss fight with Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, a boss with lots of swift movements but a relatively small health pool. Let him come to you and patiently dodge his attacks, then counter with a few of your own before he either attacks again or retreats to charge you from a new angle. Repeat this until he's defeated, at which point he will drop the Bloodhound's Fang.
Note that you can summon Blaidd, the Half-Wolf for this fight if you spoke with him in the Mistwood Ruins during nighttime hours after using the Finger Snap gesture given by Kale the Merchant to get his attention.
Bloodhound's Fang requirements, scaling, and usage
The Bloodhound's Fang is one of Elden Ring's best weapons for Quality (Strength/Dexterity) builds, as it requires 18 Strength and 17 Dexterity to effectively use in combat. Additionally, it also starts off with D Strength scaling and C Dexterity scaling, eventually reaching C Strength scaling and B Dexterity scaling when upgraded fully.
Its damage is very high compared to many other Elden Ring weapons, yet it also has a relatively quick attack speed, making it incredibly powerful. The fact that it builds up the Bleed status effect is a nice bonus that will yield some excellent bonus damage while fighting bosses, especially when you use its Bloodhound's Finesse weapon art that allows you to deliver a series of heavily damaging slashes quickly.
The Bloodhound's Fang is also a monster in PvP thanks to its ability to "roll catch," or punish players who are panic rolling away from you with its large reach and slightly delayed hit timing. Players who don't wait a little longer to dodge this weapon's attacks will end up getting caught by attacks that they would have avoided if you were using weapons like straight swords or standard greatswords.
Elden Ring is finally here, and it's available for $60 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. It's one of the best Xbox games you can play right now if you're a fan of challenging RPGs, and we strongly recommend it.
